Large Print Crossword Puzzles to Print: 5 Free Sets, 40 Puzzles
Last updated October 1, 2026
These are small crosswords made to be finished. Each puzzle is a five by five grid with four to six clues, printed in large type under the grid, so a crossword takes a few minutes and fits comfortably on one page with room to write each letter in pencil. There are five themes, eight puzzles in each, and every clue was written for this site in plain English, never copied from a newspaper or another publisher.
Every set downloads as a full PDF with an Answers section at the end, four filled grids to a page, or as a puzzles-only file. They are free to print for yourself or for a group. Choose a theme below, or play the same puzzles on screen with the large print crossword on any device.

These eight crosswords look back at the entertainment many of us grew up with: the movies, the stage show and the dance band. The answers are short, friendly words such as DUMBO, TANGO, RUMBA, LASSO, TENOR, MIME, BANJO, CROON and SCORE. Clues are plain, like “Disney elephant with very big ears” or “High male singing voice”, and all of them were written for this site.
Each crossword is a small five by five grid with four or five clues, so one puzzle is a pleasant ten minutes and not an afternoon’s work. The clues are printed in type of 20 point or larger directly under the grid, across first and then down, and the numbers in the grid are large and bold. There is room to write one letter in each white square with a pencil.
The eight puzzles are the first eight of the Easy Golden Age Entertainment series on the site. The full PDF finishes with an Answers section, four filled grids to a page, and a puzzles-only file leaves the answers out. If you enjoy them, you can play the same kind of puzzle on screen: the Easy level is free every day, with no account.

Most of us can finish a proverb before it is half said, which makes these crosswords a friendly challenge. The clues ask you to complete a saying, such as “Cannot see the forest for the ___” or “You are never too ___ to learn”, or to guess the word behind a familiar expression. Answers include TREES, OLD, SALT, HONEY, STORM, BUSH, ACORN, RAINY and PIPER, and the clues are original to this site.
Each puzzle is a small five by five grid with four to six clues, so it can be finished in one sitting. Clues are in type of 20 point or larger under the grid, across first and then down, and the clue numbers in the grid are large and bold. The grids are sparse on purpose: a few crossing words, plenty of white space, and room to write each letter clearly in pencil.
The eight puzzles are the first eight of the Easy Proverbs and Everyday Idioms series on the site. The full PDF ends with an Answers section, and a puzzles-only file leaves the answers out. Many of the sayings come up again in the Cryptogram Timeless Wisdom set, so the two make a good pair for a group.

If you have a shelf of well-loved books, these eight crosswords are for you. The clues point to authors, characters and works from the classics, for example “First man in Milton’s Paradise Lost” (ADAM), “Scheming villain of Othello” (IAGO) or “Greek philosopher who wrote The Republic” (PLATO). Other answers include TESS, MOBY, EYRE, TWAIN, AHAB, PUCK, ILIAD and FAUST, along with literary words like ODE, PLOT and PROSE.

Cooks, knitters and tinkerers will feel at home with these eight crosswords. The clues describe the things you reach for every day: “Sweet crystals stirred into coffee” (SUGAR), “Pivoting joint on a door” (HINGE), a tool for the workbench or a stitch for the sewing basket. Other answers include KNEAD, KILN, SPOOL, RIVET, YARN, APRON, VISE and PLANE, as well as everyday words like PORCH, TOWEL and BENCH.

The clues are printed in type of 20 point or larger under the grid, across and then down, and the numbers in the squares are large and bold, so there is nothing to squint at. Because the clues are original and describe plain objects, they suit people who like a crossword but not tricks or wordplay.
