About this set

These ten word searches are built around names that most people who have heard the Bible read aloud will know: NOAH, MOSES, DAVID, RUTH, ESTHER, DANIEL, ELIJAH and PETER among the people, EDEN, SINAI, JORDAN, CANAAN and ZION among the places, and books such as EXODUS, PSALMS, JUDGES and ACTS. Words such as FAITH, GRACE, HOPE and PRAYER round out the lists. The puzzles are written for adults and for church, study and fellowship groups, not for the Sunday school classroom.

The type is large: 36 point letters in an eight by eight grid, and a 24 point word list with a box beside each word. At the Easy level the words run only across or down, so the page is calm to read and quick to finish, which suits a quiet half hour or a group that wants to chat while they search. Each page has six words, and the ten pages draw on different mixes of them.

The Answers section at the back of the full PDF shades every hidden word. A separate puzzles-only file leaves the answers out, so you can print it for a group. We chose widely known names and spellings, avoided anything about doctrine, and wrote the list ourselves; if a name you would like to see is missing, please tell us through the contact page.

How to print these puzzles

Open the PDF (or save it) and choose Print. The pages are US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches.
On A4 paper, or if a margin is cut off, choose “Fit to page” (or “Fit”). Otherwise choose “Actual size” or 100 percent, which keeps the type at its full large size.
Choose black and white or grayscale. The puzzles need no color, and it saves ink.
Print one page per sheet. “Multiple pages per sheet” makes the letters small again.
To print only the puzzles, print the puzzles-only file, or in the full file print just the pages before the section called Answers.
