About this set

Soup, biscuits, pie and a cup of tea: this set of ten word searches is about the food that tastes like home. It holds the first ten puzzles of the Easy Comfort Foods series from the site, in large print for the printer. Among the words to find are BACON, CHEESE, STEAK, SHRIMP, OMELET, BROTH, BRUNCH, LEMON, PEPPER, PASTA, CREPE and COFFEE, together with sweet things such as GRAHAM, CREAM and TART.

Each puzzle has an eight by eight grid and six words in the list. Words run only left to right or top to bottom, which is how most of us read a recipe. Grid letters are 36 point and the list is 24 point, with a box beside each word. The pages have their own mixes of words, so the set works well for taking turns, or for a table of people who each have a favorite dish to talk about while they search.

The Answers section at the back of the full PDF shows the hidden words shaded in each grid, and the puzzles-only file has none of that. If a food you love is missing, remember that the set only holds six words per page, and the whole theme has hundreds of words that you can play on screen, free at the Easy level every day.

How to print these puzzles

Open the PDF (or save it) and choose Print. The pages are US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches.
On A4 paper, or if a margin is cut off, choose “Fit to page” (or “Fit”). Otherwise choose “Actual size” or 100 percent, which keeps the type at its full large size.
Choose black and white or grayscale. The puzzles need no color, and it saves ink.
Print one page per sheet. “Multiple pages per sheet” makes the letters small again.
To print only the puzzles, print the puzzles-only file, or in the full file print just the pages before the section called Answers.
